After the initial joy of a positive pregnancy test, one is often overwhelmed with questions. The first question that often comes to mind is: “I’m pregnant, what now?” We are here to help you by answering all these questions, ensuring we make your pregnancy as pleasant as possible together.

We believe it’s important to tailor our midwifery care to your wishes. To achieve this, it’s essential to get to know each other thoroughly. Pregnancy is, after all, a beautiful but also exciting time in your life. We want to make the coming months as pleasant as possible together. That’s why we deliberately remain a small-scale midwifery practice. This way, we can give everyone the personal attention they need before, during, and after pregnancy. Furthermore, the parents themselves are always central to our care. This means that you, your partner, and any children are welcome during our midwife check-ups. Within the practice, we have our own certified sonographers and our own maternity care agency to ensure personal care remains central.

Giving Birth in the Hague or Westland

Finding a good midwife in The Hague is challenging. At midwifery practice Margriet, we consider it important to provide optimal guidance to (future) parents. To achieve this, we offer expert advice, personal attention, and transparent communication. Our midwives are eager to be involved in your pregnancy so that we can make it as easy as possible together.

We have an extensive network within the Haaglanden region. This includes collaborations with other midwifery practices, ultrasound centers, hospitals, and gynecologists in the region. This ensures you have access to the expertise your pregnancy needs. If desired/necessary, we can also schedule a consultation with a doctor for you. Furthermore, our midwives are recognized healthcare providers registered with the KNOV and the BIG-register

Midwifery Guidance

Through our years of expert experience, we can help you make various choices. You’ll receive professional medical guidance throughout the entire process of having children; from family planning to the postpartum week. We’ll help you create a birth plan. We know that every woman has different needs, so we make time to discuss these needs together.

Home Birth in the Hague or Westland

Giving birth in The Hague can be done in different ways. We recommend discussing all possibilities during your pregnancy journey. During consultations, you can indicate whether you prefer to give birth at home or in the hospital. We have a close partnership with the Haga Hospital / Haga Birth Hotel and the HMC. This ensures you’re well taken care of for a hospital birth, but of course, it’s about what you prefer!

Costs of Midwifery Care the Hague

Midwifery care is specialized care for the (expectant) mother and her child. This care is provided both before and during pregnancy and after childbirth. The costs for midwifery care during pregnancy are covered by the basic health insurance package. This means that the costs for the midwife, doctor(assistant), gynecologist, and maternity care worker are reimbursed through basic insurance, and you don’t have to pay anything yourself. This includes pregnancy check-ups with the midwife or the standard 20-week ultrasound. However, some pregnancy-related costs may (partially) be subject to the mandatory deductible. Therefore, check your health insurance policy in time or contact your health insurer about which costs are covered. If you don’t have insurance, you’re still welcome in our practice. However, there will be associated costs.

Care Contracts with your Insurer

Our midwifery practice in The Hague has care contracts with all Dutch health insurers (and even some foreign ones). This means we can directly claim the costs from your health insurer. This makes it easier for us, so we can fully concentrate on the parents and the arrival of the baby!

If you’re not pregnant and would like to use one of our other services, such as a consultation about contraception, IUD or Implanon insertion, or a preconception consultation, you’re always welcome. You don’t have to pay anything then either! Call us for the possibilities!
