Costs obstetric care
Obstetric care is the care of the (future) mother and her child before pregnancy, during pregnancy and after childbirth (maternity week). Costs of obstetric care are included in the basic package of your medical insurance. That means the cost of the midwife, doctor (assistant), gynaecologist and maternity care are reimbursed under the basic insurance.
The costs of care during pregnancy are covered by the basic health insurance, like the pregnancy checks with the midwife. The 20 week ultrasound you get offered standard, is also covered by the basic insurance. Nevertheless, some costs around the pregnancy are (partially) applicable for the compulsory excess.
Midwives practice Margriet has a care contract with all Dutch health insurers (and most foreign). This means that we can claim directly with the agency. So we can concentrate completely on the parents and baby.
More information on the compulsory excess can be found on the website of deverloskundige.
